EXPRESS PERMITS was started in 1991 in Los Angeles, California for the sole purpose of assisting retailers with obtaining building permits anywhere in the United States. It was believed that there should be a company, not affiliated with any architectural firm or construction company, that specialized in the permit process. This company could concentrate on just helping with permits. Since its inception, EXPRESS PERMITS has fulfilled its goal to specialize in just permits and has not gotten involved in drawing plans or building any stores.

EXPRESS PERMITS started out with one small office, a two line phone system and a fax machine shared with a tenant in an adjacent office. Today, EXPRESS PERMITS has expanded to multiple locations throughout the country, numerous phone lines, several fax lines and E-mail. EXPRESS PERMITS is committed to doing whatever is necessary to grow and meet the needs of any retailers trying to build stores in the shortest time possible.

Early customers of EXPRESS PERMITS included Bakers Shoes, Musicland, Helzberg Diamonds, and Baskin-Robbins. These retailers believed that the the architect or the contractor was not always doing everything possible to accelerate the permit process. There must have been some truth to that since EXPRESS PERMITS has grown from helping a handful of retailers in 1991, to working with over 100 clients all over the country.

EXPRESS PERMITS is without question the leader in making permits go FASTER and SMOOTHER. EXPRESS PERMITS has established itself as the leader by developing a staff of knowledgeable permit professionals, opening offices on both coasts and by bringing a “working together attitude” to each project. The staff of professionals, the multiple offices and the working together attitude is what makes the permit process go faster and smoother.
